On the 18th of November 2009 two polish members of our workshop-team interviewed a former inmate of the concentration camp Ravensbrück.

BRYGIDA CZEKANOWSKA was born in 1928. In the end of August 1944, after the uprising in the Warsaw Ghetto, she was deported to Ravensbrück, where she was imprisoned for 8 months.

On the 16th of November 1944 she was deported yet againg - this time to Klein Machnow, a smaller working camp, connected to the concentration camp Sachsenhausen.

Today Brygida Czekanowska is living in Gdansk (Danzig). During the time of this interview she was visiting the Ravensbrück Memorial site to attend the opening of an exhibition about former Polish and Czech inmates of Ravensbrück and Sachsenhausen.

On the following page you will find short excerpts from the interview we did with Brygida Czekanowska - in Polish and German. The German translation was done by Magda Sankowska.
